Boston News

Thursday we continued leading our kids camp at Willis Avenue Community Center. We had around 25 kids today. We start the day playing with the parachute, which the kids always love. In recreation, the kids participated in relay races and baseball. The kids made necklaces in crafts, and tie-dye butterflies in art. They always seem to have a great time coloring and creating their "masterpiece"! The character trait we taught on was patience. The puppets introduced our story. To demonstrate this, Leigh Ann, Paul, & Dustin told and acted out the story of the prodigal son. In my opinion, this was one of the top highlights of the week, and it served as a prime opportunity to share God's love. We told the kids that the father waited patiently everyday for his son, even though his son had done wrong. When the son finally came home, the father gladly embraced him and gave him a feast and the best clothes! In our story, Dustin (the son) left his father (Paul) and went to Kentucky, but after running out of money and living with the pigs, he decided to return to "Pops". When Dustin got home, he was given a Harvard sweatshirt, Boston Red Sox cap, and pizza from his father! Then Paul told the kids that this is how God treats us, He is always patient with us, always waiting for us to come to Him, and always loves us!! The son was lost but now has been found! After the character trait story, the kids sung Bible songs and fun camp songs, complete with help from the puppets and hand motions!

Thursday night we attended a de-brief meeting with all the Serve Medford teams. The teams shared how God has been working in the lives of others this week. It was truly an encouragement to hear about what the Lord is doing through each of us. We may never see all the results, but seeds have been planted.

The second half of the meeting was a briefing on what is to come Friday night. Friday night is our big night, as we assistRedemption Hill Church and the other mission teams host a Community Fun Night. This is a BIG prayer request, that we need you to pray about! This is a huge outreach event for kids and adults. Pray that the Spirit will move and work through us (that we would be flexible and God will prepare us for what His will is for us to do), and please pray for the Spirit to move in the hearts of the people that are coming (pray that God would send the people He wants there). Pray for the Redemption Hill Church and staff and that connections and relationships will be made with the members of this community. Pray that the lost may be saved, and that seeds will be planted. Pray for opportunities for the Gospel to be shared and displayed. Members of our team will be face painting, "tattooing", making animal balloons, sharing the Gospel story with kids, helping kids with Gospel crafts, helping set up and take down, as well as meeting any other needs that may arise. We need you to partner with us in praying over this event. Our God answers prayer!

We are trusting that God is at work within us and through us, and within the people of Medford. We are deeply thankful to be able to share and spread God's love with these people, and are grateful for your continued support. We will be traveling back toOwensboro on Saturday and Sunday, your prayers for traveling mercies are appreciated as well.
